Here’s something I’ve learned over the years: Most people, myself included, don’t know as much as we think we do. And that’s okay. It’s not a flaw—it’s just how life works. We all have a limited view of the world, shaped by where we grew up, what we’ve been taught, and the people we surround ourselves with.
Think about it. You go through life thinking you’ve got things figured out, because that’s what your experiences and environment have shown you. But as you grow and expose yourself to different perspectives, you start to realize that the “truths” you once believed in were just one small part of the picture.
Let me give you an example. Ever gone back to read a book or watch a movie that you loved years ago, only to find it means something completely different to you now? Maybe the lessons you took away the first time seem less important, and new ideas jump out at you. That’s because you’ve changed. Your experiences, your knowledge, your mindset—all of it has evolved.
And that’s the beauty of growth. As you learn more and meet people who challenge your thinking, you start to see the world through a wider lens. Things that seemed simple or obvious before now feel more complex, and you begin to realize how much more there is to understand.
This isn’t just about books or movies—it applies to everything in life: your health, wealth, relationships, and beliefs. The more you open yourself up to new ideas, the more you realize how much there is to learn. And that’s a good thing.
The danger is in thinking you’ve already arrived—that you know it all or that what worked for you in the past will always work. That’s a trap. Life is constantly changing, and the smartest thing you can do is keep learning and stay open to new perspectives.
I see this a lot in my work with clients. Some come to me thinking they’ve got their financial situation all figured out, but after we dig a little deeper, they realize there’s a lot more they could be doing. And it’s not because they’re not smart—it’s just that they’ve been looking at things from a limited perspective, based on what they know.
The truth is, we’re all learning. No one has it all figured out. The key is to stay curious, keep asking questions, and be open to seeing things differently as you grow.
So, my advice? Don’t be afraid to admit you don’t have all the answers. Get around people who challenge you, who make you think differently. Read books, have conversations, and always be willing to reconsider what you believe. The more you do that, the more you’ll grow—and the more fulfilling life will become.
